If your site isn’t mobile friendly, now is the time to do something about it. Tomorrow, 04.21.2015, Google rolls out it’s new algorithm that focus heavily on mobile usability.
Google will now be taking into account how mobile friendly your site is when pitting you up against your competition for that top spot. If the mobile experience is poor, you will likely be pushed further down the list of search engine results.
In the past, Google would label the mobile-friendly sites and it had little impact on rankings. The previous algorithms, Panda and Penguin, would label 3% to 12% of sites respectively.
“We will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results,” said Takaki Makino, Chaesang Jung and Doantam Phan in a blog post for Google webmasters.
This will be the most dramatic algorithm shift that Google has made in years. It’s time to adopt responsive or mobile platforms to your site. Be prepared for “Mobilegeddon”.
